Cursive Downcurve Letters

a, d, g, o, c, q — these 6 lowercase letters all begin with a downcurve stroke. The starting downcurve of each letter is highlighted in red.

What is a downcurve letter?

These letters all begin with a downcurve stroke. When you write one, the first motion of your pencil is the same every time — curve down and around. That shared entry stroke is also what other letters join into: the ending curve of the letter before flows straight into the downcurve that starts these letters.

Each letter page shows the full stroke-by-stroke animation, where every stroke starts and stops, how the letter joins other letters, and a four-part letter quiz to test yourself.
