Data Retention

• We retain active account, organization, family, and student records while Scribble is providing the service.
• We retain learning records while they are needed for learning continuity, reporting, support, and educational purposes.
• We remove or de-identify records when they are no longer needed, unless a legal, security, contractual, or audit obligation requires retention.
• We keep backups and operational logs for limited periods before they are overwritten or deleted through normal retention cycles.

Learning records include student profiles, curriculum state, session drafts, handwriting attempts, activity results, scores, XP awards, and reporting snapshots. These records support student practice continuity and authorized reporting.

The latest supported iPad app connection time is retained with the adult’s Family membership to confirm setup. Deleting that membership removes the confirmation. It contains no unique iPad identifier.

Active session drafts are temporary resumable state. Scribble may discard stale, expired, completed, or explicitly abandoned drafts without affecting completed learning records. Inactive drafts are removed after 14 days.

Payment, tax, refund, and accepted purchase records are retained for accounting, dispute handling, and legal obligations. Operational shipping information is used for optional graduation reward packages. Turning gifts off removes the saved shipping address; necessary historical fulfillment records are retained separately.

Billing attribution and matching context is cleared after 90 days. Financial records and accepted terms are retained separately. Expiry of learning access does not automatically delete a Family or its learning history.

When measurement is permitted, browser campaign context and anonymous measurement identities expire after 90 days. Server measurement context is erased after 90 days; email signup operation context is erased after 30 days. Expired entries are ignored and cleared during subsequent storage reads or updates. These references reduce duplicate conversion events and contain no form answers or contact details. Secure email-list recognition cookies last up to 30 days and may renew when you update your preferences. Browser settings can clear this storage sooner.

Parents, guardians, schools, and authorized administrators may request deletion, export, correction, or retention review for account, student, family, or organization records. Requests are reviewed against account authority, school instructions where applicable, contract terms, legal obligations, and security needs. Eligible Family deletion has a 30-day cancellation window. A shared Family is not deleted simply because one adult leaves it or deletes their account.
