Daily Goal & Streaks
How daily XP goals, scheduled practice days, and optional days count toward a streak.
A student meets the daily goal when their awarded XP reaches the daily XP target. Days use your Family or school’s timezone, not necessarily the iPad’s timezone.
Which goal applies?
A student-specific goal takes priority when one is set. Otherwise, the student uses the Family default or shared Alpha course default.
- Family owners and admins: open Settings → Learning settings to change the default daily XP goal and practice days. For one child, open Children, choose the child, then Edit → Practice days & daily goal.
- Alpha owners and admins: the shared course default daily XP goal is managed centrally by Scribble. Student-specific overrides are available in the student’s Edit → Practice days & daily goal section.
- Report-only adults: can view reports but cannot change learning settings.
What counts toward the goal?
All awarded XP counts, including lessons, reviews, warmup, intros, assessments, required activities, and qualifying Fast Write top-ups. Replay counts only for the XP it actually awards.
Completing a lesson or spending time in the app is not the same as meeting the daily XP goal.
Practice days and optional days
The default schedule is Monday–Friday. A student can use the organization’s schedule or a custom schedule.
- Scheduled practice day: meeting the goal counts toward the streak. Missing the goal breaks the sequence.
- Optional day: meeting the goal also adds a streak day. Not meeting it—or taking the day off—does not break the streak.
Each date can add at most one streak day. Earning more XP after meeting the goal does not add another day.
Examples
Weekdays with a weekend off
A student meets the goal Monday through Friday, takes Saturday and Sunday off, then meets it the following Monday. With the default weekday schedule, that is a six-day streak.
An optional day can count too
The same student also meets the goal on Saturday. Saturday adds a streak day; taking Sunday off does not break it. After meeting Monday’s goal, the streak is seven days.
Some practice, but below the goal
Earning less than the target on an optional Sunday does not add a day or break the streak. Missing the target on a scheduled practice day breaks the sequence.
Reading today’s streak
On a scheduled practice day, the current streak can show 0 until today’s goal is met. Check today’s XP alongside the streak rather than assuming that a morning zero means saved learning history is gone.
Choose a goal and schedule that fit your child’s routine. Use the current goal and streak shown in the app or report; changing settings is not a way to award XP.
